FLIGHT OF ANGELS
Our flagship flight, named after David Livingstone’s famous quote, “Scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by Angels in their flight.” As the helicopter lifts off, the landscape opens beneath you, revealing the winding channels of the Zambezi River, the historic Victoria Falls Bridge, the rugged cliffs of Batoka Gorge and the vast wilderness that surrounds one of Africa’s most iconic destinations.
The helicopter takes off from our Heliport in the direction of the gorge (rapid #8). It then flies over the gorge, over the Victoria Falls Bridge before orbiting over the Falls. The guests get to see the natural wonder and both countries before flying back to the Heliport.
EXPLORE THE ZAMBEZI FLIGHT
There is no river in the world that undergoes a transformation as dramatic as the Zambezi — and the Explore the Zambezi Flight places this spectacle, including an aerial passage over Victoria Falls, at the very heart of the experience.
Operated by the Zambezi Helicopter Company, famed for the iconic Flight of Angels, this extended 22-minute scenic flight combines the full Flight of Angels experience with an extended journey along the Zambezi River to Long Island. Along the way, you’ll witness the river in its most dramatic form as it plunges more than 100 metres across a 1.7-kilometre-wide curtain of water — a UNESCO-recognised natural wonder and one of the most powerful waterfalls on Earth.
The journey begins at the Zambezi Helipad, flying towards Rapid Number 12 before following the river through the Batoka Gorge, where powerful rapids carve their way through the narrow canyon below. The flight then takes you over Victoria Falls, capturing the full spectacle from above, before continuing along the Zambezi River to Long Island. Here, the landscape transforms once again as the river widens into a more tranquil, meandering stretch, dotted with islands and rich with wildlife. The return journey passes overhead of the Falls once more before continuing to the helipad.
The Explore the Zambezi Flight is more than simply a longer scenic flight — it is a complete aerial journey through the river’s dramatic rapids and gorge, over Victoria Falls, and along the Zambezi to Long Island, revealing the remarkable transformations of one of Africa’s greatest natural wonders.
ZAMBEZI SPECTACULAR
On our 25-minute signature flight, combine the beauty and thrills of the Flight of Angels with a flight downstream over the Batoka Gorge and additional time over the Zambezi National Park, where you have another opportunity to spot wildlife. This flight allows you to view the magnificent Zambezi in its three states: the meandering peaceful river above the Falls, the Falls themselves and the rapids and white water of the Zambezi below the Falls. This flight should not be missed.
Starting at Rapid Number 8, the Zambezi Spectacular Flight follows the full Flight of Angels route over Victoria Falls, continues upstream along the Zambezi River to Long Island and the surrounding national park, then returns to the helipad with a final pass overhead of the Falls.

The Flight of Angels is the iconic helicopter ride over Victoria Falls, named after David Livingstone’s famous description of the Falls.
We provide return transfers to and from your accommodation in Victoria Falls. Accommodation outside of Victoria Falls will attract an additional fee.

Our Bell 206 Long Ranger and Bell Jet Ranger helicopters are the most reliable aircraft on the market. They’re maintained to the highest industry standards as specified by the manufacturer, Bell Textron. We follow the South African Maintenance Organisation and Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe guidelines and our service centre is the only one in Africa that’s International Business Aviation Council and Helicopter Association International accredited.
There are no seat reservations due to adjustments possible for overall flight weight balance, especially on charter flights.
There are no age restrictions, although children must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 3 fly for free, sitting on an adult’s lap. Children over 3 pay full price and have a seat.
There is generally a weight limit of 120kg per passenger, but this can often be worked around depending on the weight of other passengers.
Flights range from approximately 12 to 25 minutes depending on the experience selected.
